It highlights the optimism of the sector at the dawn of this year 2022 and the confirmation of a basic trend regarding the opening of traditional institutions to crypto-assets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;50px||0px||false|false&#8221;]<h2><span style=\"color: #007ac2;\"><strong>The facts<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; min_height=&#8221;413px&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||0px|||&#8221;]<p><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">The majority of Swiss banks are planning to offer investment products in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/adnews.galitt.com\/en\/articles\/details\/solana-blockchain-facilitates-crypto-currency-payments\">crypto-currencies.<\/a><\/strong><\/span> This is the main finding of EY&#8217;s new Banks 2022 Observatory, particularly with regard to the topic of the crypto market. It surveyed 90 banking institutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">55% of the banks surveyed in this observatory thus specified that they planned to launch an investment offer in crypto-assets in the next 3 years.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">There are, however, differences of opinion depending on the nature of the banks:<\/span><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">Private banks are the most mature on the subject, with 68% of them emphasizing their interest in this type of digital asset.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">The proportion of institutions willing to offer crypto-currency investments to their clients within three years, on the other hand, drops to 50% for cantonal banks and 48% for regional banks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">More broadly, 55% of banks surveyed said they believe <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.galitt.com\/en\/2022\/01\/24\/cryptocurrencies-lydia-partners-with-bitpanda\/\">crypto-currencies<\/a><\/strong><\/span> will establish themselves as an asset class in their own right (along with stocks and bonds) over the long term.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">52% of banks also said that offering crypto-currency investment opportunities does not run counter to their sustainability goals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;50px||0px||false|false&#8221;]<h2><span style=\"color: #007ac2;\"><strong>Issues<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;18px||0px||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||0px|||&#8221;]<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\"><strong style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left;\">One step ahead<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left;\">: the Swiss market was opening up to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/adnews.galitt.com\/actualites\/details\/la-suisse-ouvre-lere-des-crypto-banques\" style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left; color: #1d1d1b;\">crypto-banking<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left;\"> era as early as 2019 and was chosen as the home of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/adnews.galitt.com\/actualites\/details\/en-bref-le-lancement-de-diem-encore-decale\" style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left; color: #1d1d1b;\">Diem<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left;\"> association. In addition, the Spanish bank BBVA has chosen this country to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/adnews.galitt.com\/actualites\/details\/achat-vente-de-bitcoins-bbva-sy-lance\" style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left; color: #1d1d1b;\">test<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left;\"> a commercial platform for buying, selling and keeping digital assets. It recently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbva.com\/en\/bbva-switzerland-adds-ether-to-its-cryptocurrency-custody-and-trading-service\/\" style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left; color: #1d1d1b;\">reinforced<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 18px; text-align: left;\"> its system.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\"><strong>An evolution to watch<\/strong>: The craze for crypto-assets is linked to that of customers and the ambition to offer investments with high growth potential. Still, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) requires higher capital requirements on crypto-assets held by banks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\"><strong>A Bipolar Strategy: <\/strong>While sustainability remains a major issue for the majority of banks, 54% believe that offering cryptocurrency investment opportunities does not run counter to their sustainability goals.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;50px||0px||false|false&#8221;]<h2><span style=\"color: #007ac2;\"><strong>Putting it into perspective<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;18px||0px||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;||0px|||&#8221;]<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">Switzerland was one of the first countries in the world to codify digital assets into national law, after implementing the first phase of the so-called &#8216;blockchain&#8217; law last year. Finma, the regulatory body for financial activities had also been the first to create <a href=\"https:\/\/adnews.galitt.com\/actualites\/details\/la-suisse-ouvre-lere-des-crypto-banques\" style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">a specific establishment status<\/a> to regulate crypto activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">The Swiss example is worth following as it highlights a growing trend worldwide. In November 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/adnews.galitt.com\/actualites\/details\/commbank-se-lance-dans-la-prediction-de-budget\" style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">Commonwealth Bank<\/a> in Australia became the first bank in the country to offer a crypto asset trading service. The Italian bank Banca Generali has also invested in the FinTech <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bancagenerali.com\/press-and-media\/news\/banca-generali-con-conio-bitcoin\" style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">Conio<\/a> to offer crypto products.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">The market value of total crypto assets in circulation exceeded $2 trillion in September 2021, 10 times more than in early 2020. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imf.org\/fr\/News\/Articles\/2021\/10\/01\/blog-gfsr-ch2-crypto-boom-poses-new-challenges-to-financial-stability#:~:text=La%20valeur%20de%20march%C3%A9%20du,fois%20plus%20que%20d%C3%A9but%202020.\" style=\"color: #1d1d1b;\">International Monetary Fund<\/a> reports on this exponential growth and the disintermediation challenges for central banks and commercial banks.
